Más de medio millón de unidades asegura Nintendo que ha vendido en los Estados Unidos de la Wii, su nueva consola, en tan solo una semana. Tal volumen de ventas ha provocado que los almacenes de la empresa se hayan quedado vacíos y que sea imposible hacerse con una de estas consolas en este país. Todo ello, a pesar de que Nintendo aumentó en 200.000 el número de unidades que sacó a la venta. Este ritmo de ventas ha provocado que, desde el 19 de noviembre, Nintendo haya recaudado en USA cerca de 200 millones de dólares.
¿Cuál es el atractivo de Wii respecto a otas consolas? Pues, además de sus juegos, lo principal es el precio. Los 250 dólares que cuesta en Estados Unidos suponen la mitad del precio de lo que Sony está pidiendo por su PlayStation 3.
La Wii llegará a Europa el 8 de Diciembre, mientras que la PlayStation3 no lo hará hasta marzo, después de un nuevo retraso en su comercialización en nuestro continente. La otra gran consola del mercado, la Xbox360 de Microsoft, ha aprovechado su temprano lanzamiento para vender cerca de 6 millones en todo el mundo.
